After a month in Thailand our tourist visas are up so its time to say goodbye to the land of smiles. (Although perhaps not for long as we plan to come
back again after we visit Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos). So its bed time here in Bangkok and tomorrow morning at 6am we will be all aboard the train to Cambodia. It is a 6 hour train ride in
economy class to the border, apparently locals travel free so there should be an interesting mix of people on the train! Its def not going to be the most luxurious train ride ever but I think we
are all so excited about going to Cambodia that we wont care. Even if we have to sit on the floor among the local farmers with their chickens we'll still be happy. So cherrio for now. We will be
in touch again soon to let you know how the chickens smelled!

Since we both love our food and have been more than loving the food here in Thailand, we couldnt miss the opportunity to do a Thai cooking course and learn some of
the local's secrets. The class started at 9.30am with a trip to the farmers market to get all our ingredients (since the language was a bit of a barrier with the locals we mostly just watched as
our chef did the shopping!) and then the rest of the day was spent cooking up a storm. Of course we couldnt let all the yummy food go to waste so we also spent the day eating!
When the course was over and the time came to go home we were all very proud of ourselves indeed (not to mention stuffed!), having mastered some fab Thai dishes. We did get some recipe books as
well, so hopefully we wont forget everything we learned by the time we get back and we will be able to treat ye all to some nice Thai dinners!

One thing I love about traveling is the adventure of it all, you never know when you get up in the morning how the day will unfold. Like the other day we planned to
go for a simple walk around the city of Chang Mai (Northern Thailand) to have a quick look at some of the Buddhist temples, when all of a sudden we find ourselves in a special temple usually
closed to tourists, and learning to meditate with a Buddhist monk?! What was supposed to be a short walk around town turned into a two hour conversation with a monk and an introductory session of
meditation!!! It was the first time Id ever tried anything to do with meditation and I have to say I wouldnt mind giving it another go. We arent exactly stressed at the minute anyway but after
our class with the monk we felt almost like we were floating. Dont worry we wont go all "peace out brother"!! on you but we are def considering doing some more meditation perhaps here or in
India. Apparently there is a 21 day course but once I heard that it was 21 days without talking I quickly ruled that out! The three day course might suit me better!

Yes just a wee note to let you know that we have finally got time to update the blog. So
for all of you who are looking for excuses to slack off at work you can click on the countries on the left of this opening page to find out what we have been up to and see the photos. We have
been very lazy with the blog lately so from now on we are going to try and write less but more often. Yes I know we have said that a mil times but this time we mean it!!! J However do be patient with
us, how that there are four of us traveling together we have less free time than before. Now that we are all together we are taking advantage of our time to study and discuss serious cultural and
political issues in each country we visit, as you'll see in the photo below! NOT!!!!! J More like we are too busy acting the eejits and having a ball! Taking
advantage of the traveling life before we have to go back to reality!!!!!!!

Globalmente tampoco me puedo quejar.
exactamente que he tenido.

Yes its Annemarie, back on the blog again. Sorry for disappearing off the face of the earth there for a while, no i wasnt just being a lazy sod!!!! I was actually home in Ireland for 10 days on a
surprise family visit. I had various reasons for going home and although it flew by it was well worth it. My Mum didnt know I was coming home so it was tears and joy all around. It was so amazing
to see my Mum and family again after 10 months. Yes I had some holidays from my holidays!!!! After 10 days at home I got back again to my backpacking life on 7th August, flying Dublin -
Amsterdam - Singapore - Kuala Lumpur...yes it was a long 30+ hours of travel. YAWN! So Ive been back here on the other side of the world since and have still no articles wrote for the blog i hear
you say!!! Well yes thats true but believe me I have a few very good excuses. Firstly Antoine's family were all reunited here with us. Jean-Francois and Jacqueline were over to see us for ten
days, while Mathilde and Veri are here now for good to travel all Asia with us. We are all very excited about that...two becomes four. The second reason is not so good however, our fun ten
days together with Antoine's parents were interumpted when Antoine got sick. He got ill with a very high fever, pains etc on the 14th and had to be admitted into hospital on the 15th. He is
still in hospital but no need to worry as he is over the worst of it. The original diagnosis was either malaria or dengue, thankfully malaria has been ruled out and although they havent confirmed
100% yet that it is dengue, they are 80% sure thats what it is. We spent three days in the jungle in Taman Negara (middle Malaysia) so it is likely that he caught it there. The poor thing has
been to hell and back, just the sight of him in his hospital green pjs with his drip is enough to break my heart. However as I said he is over the worst and on the mend so no need
to worry. Plus he has been a great patient, not complaining at all, I definitely wouldnt have been as brave! So our trip is temporarily on hold as we sit out Antoine's illness
here in Jerteh, a rather small very Muslim town near the northeast coast of Malaysia. However once Antoine is back to full health we do promise to update the blog, we will have more than one funny
story to tell you all from just our time here.....like when we told the doctor I was Antoine's sister (I had to be either his wife or sister to be accepted in the hospital) and then he saw us
kissing! The look on his face, he will be thinking family relations in Europe are very close!!!! Hope you are all well and ill be back again soon.
